The Regina Jazz Orchestra (RJO) is celebrating their tenth year. The band is a standard instrumentation big band made up of 5 saxophones, 4 trombones, 4 trumpets, bass, piano, and drums, and features our vocalist Jodi Scott. The band features many of the best players in the province.

The RJO follows the tradition of the Bob Moyer Big Band. Bob’s band was the ‘training ground’ where many people in RJO got their start in the playing scene in Regina. The Bob Moyer Big Band was primarily a dance band and in the 80’s performed weekly Saturday shows at Bernsteins nightclub which was part of the Landmark Inn.

This group plays a wide variety of music from several different big bands, as well as some original music written from members of the band… and of course Bob Moyer.

The band has worked with some wonderful guests soloists such as Kelly Jefferson, Ranee Lee, Wayne Bergeron, Gary Guthman, Gordon Foote, and Pat Steel to mention a few. Musical director of the RJO is Brent Ghiglione who has been a member of the Moyer band since 1979 and who leads it today.

NOTE: These shows are offered in conjunction with Moose Jaw Band & Choral Festival. This show will mostly be attended by the youth of Saskatchewan and surrounding territories as part of the programming for the festival. A limited number of seats are on offer to the public. Grab your seat now!
